Ethical sourcing is the process of ensuring the products being sourced are obtained in a responsible and sustainable way, that the workers involved in making them are safe and treated fairly and that environmental and social impacts are taken into consideration during the sourcing process.
For us, we source ethically where we are able to. We ask that our suppliers do not send our products to us using single use plastic and when we do receive plastic bubble wrap and air cells, we re-use them. Our own gift boxing consists of cardboard and paper, and our branding is printed on paper as opposed to vinyl.
If you see this button, know that the item you are buying cares about the chain of supply to them and beyond.
Key ethical brands we retail that we celebrate for going an extra mile are
Blue Earth - made in gorgeous NZ - their products are as natural as they come and their packaging is recyclable or reusable
Sophie la Girafe - nothing is more sustainable than a loved brand like Sophie that has been with us for over 50 years. They do this by using recyclable gift boxing and of course Sophie and her buddies are made from natural rubber.
Pebble Child - this artisan brand supports an entire village in Bangladesh. We just love the simplicity and nostalgia of hand crafted knitted soft toys.
Our so-soft cotton blankets - sourced from a NZ supplier with a big heart - she ensures that their overseas business encourages fair trade - only sourcing from government approved factories which support their staff in happy & healthy work environments, with respectful pay rates.
Marks and Spencer - earning them an A for transparency with their sourcing policy - you can read about it here. They aim to enhance the lives and support the local communities of the people who work for and with us. They are committed to source responsibly and we work closely with our suppliers to make sure they respect human rights, promote decent working conditions and improve sustainability across our supply base.
